This Saturday it was the Big Rock Runners task to organize the x-country at the tracks ( Chuck, Shelly and Jos marked the course) of the Strathcona Twuidsmuirds School. The event went off without a hitch and we were happy to welcome 108 runners for a loop or two around one of the nicest tracks in the country. Chuck, Shelly, Tom, Vic, Bruce, Peter, John, Rob and Tom were marshals on the course. Big Rock Runners who ran were Ruth and Jean (4 km) and Jos and Erik (8 km). Three kids ran the Kids Race just before the start of the x-country. We had the benefit of a great track with a touch of snow and nicely topped off with a mild temperature and no wind.
Shelly was responsible for the organization of this great run and she likes to thank the Big Rock Runners for always being such great volunteers, especially thanks Peggy Sorkilmo (and John) for being our “Soup Nazi” and Sandy Seager, Susan & Glen Gorri looked after registration, and Chuck for filling in 3 jobs that I had open. And Shelly also likes to thank Larry Clark and STS for the use of their facilities.
Filling our stomachs wasn't a problem as we had so many amazing soups made by Chuck, Tom, Susan Sosick, Ruth, Jean, Erik, John and Peggy (hopefully we are not forgetting anybody!). Peggy said that this location worked out very well, especially with the great help from Karl and staff of KC'S Eatery. Luckily there were also enough people the help with cleaning up. And as always Peggy has a corning wear soup mug and spoon, which she doesn't want to add to her own collection, so please send Peggy an email if it is yours!
There were so many positive comments, so we can conclude that this run as a success!
